Espresso Machines Review

DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker, Stainless

  • Uses convenient pods or ground coffee with the patented dual function filter holder.
  • Patented "Cappuccino System" frother which mixes steam and milk to create a rich, creamy froth for perfect drinks every time
  • Always brew espresso or at the perfect temperature with two separate thermostats - water and steam pressure is controlled separately
  • High-quality stainless steel boiler and 15 bar pump pressure

Summary of the DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker, Stainless

  • Excellent clearance between the bottom of the filter holder and the base. I have a nice size cappuccino mug (in addition to standard espresso cups) and it fits perfectly. Apparently this is a problem with some other machines.
  • Two size filters - one for single shot and one for double shot espressos.
  • Filters also use the ESE pod system if you're into that. I don't use pods.
  • Large, easily removable and cleanable water holder.
  • It looks great. All silver, mostly metal. Doesn't have any of that cheap looking black plastic.

Summary of the Saeco 00354 Aroma Espresso Machine, Stainless Steel

  • Fast. It takes EXACTLY 102 seconds from the time the switch is flipped until it is ready to brew. ( when the brew light is activated)
  • One of the most competitive machines in the sub $450 price range, if not the best.
  • None of the stainless parts will rust, including the grate under the cups
  • Portafilter is very solid and heavy duty, I feel very confident using it.
  • Large water tank, big enough to fill once a week (one individual).

Nespresso D120-US-BK-NE CitiZ Automatic Single-Serve Espresso Maker and Milk Frother

  • Single-serve automatic espresso maker for use with coffee-filled capsules
  • Integrated Aeroccino for creating milk-based coffee drinks at the touch of a button
  • Espresso and lungo buttons; 19-bar pump; energy-saving mode; 1-liter removable water tank
  • Used-capsule container; removable drip tray; folding cup support
  • Measures 14-3/5 by 9-2/7 by 11 inches

Summary of the Nespresso D120-US-BK-NE CitiZ Single-Serve Espresso Maker & Milk Frother, Limousine Black

  • Very solid, well-made machine. There is not one part of this machine that feels or looks cheap.
  • The espresso shots and longer shots the CitiZ pulls and pours are delicious. Beautiful crema, full enticing bouquet (if I may be so lame to use that word).
  • Experiment with a wide variety of Nespresso capsules. My favorite is the Ristretto (10 is the strongest), but I also like the 9 and eight. The machine comes with a full sampler.
  • I recommend changing the water in the reservoir each day. The fresher the water, the better the shot.
